Gardeners Cottage is the one people picture when they say country cottage: three bedrooms at Nevill Holt, original features kept, and a wraparound garden full of wildflowers and mature shrubs.

The open-plan kitchen and dining room is the heart of it, triple aspect over the garden, with the original black floor tiles still down. The living area next door has a log burner, which is the whole argument for coming in winter.

Two doubles and a single upstairs, decorated to show off the old bones of the house, with a newly renovated shower room — large rainfall shower and Bamford toiletries. There is a WC on the ground floor too.

Outside there is a fire pit and a patio set, which is where the evening tends to end up. Rockingham Castle, Rutland Water and Market Harborough are all a short drive, and the estate's theatre and the Nevill Holt Festival in June are on the doorstep.
