Buffalo Lodge sits right at the entrance to the Nevill Holt Estate — a restored three-bedroom house that has kept its character and been brought properly up to date.
You come into a hall. To the right, a sitting room with a wood-burning stove, running through into a lounge and then a reading room, so there is more than one place to take yourself off to. The reading room opens into the kitchen and dining area, where large doors give onto the patio and a private meadow.
Upstairs are three good-sized bedrooms. Two have king zip-and-link beds that split into twins; the third has two singles. The master has its own walk-in shower room, and a family bathroom with a full-sized bath serves the other two.
A utility room and a downstairs loo make it a sensible choice for longer stays. Market Harborough, Uppingham and Oakham are all close for shops and dinner, and the Welland Valley walks start more or less at the gate.
